We love keeping our customers, prospects and visitors
to our Web sites (including www.ScratchCat.com
and www.FreshScience.com)
informed about all of the fun and exciting things
happening at ScratchCat. But, we want you to know
that protecting your privacy is important to us. So,
we have implemented a customer privacy policy, which
guides how we collect, store and use information about
customers and prospects. When you submit information
to us, you agree to the terms of the policy and we
agree to the terms of the policy.
We may modify this Customer Privacy Policy to reflect
legal, technological and other developments, so we'll
post any changes here. Please note that our Web sites
may contain links to other Web sites that have their
own privacy policies and practices so ScratchCat cannot
make any guarantees with respect to the actions or
policies of such third parties.
Collection, Storage and Use of Information
When you enroll in SchoolPurrks (our Premium
Rewards Program for Educators), submit an online form,
request a catalog or brochure, respond to a survey,
or communicate with us for any other reason, the information
we collect from you (e.g., your name, address, email
address) is added to our electronic mailing list.
ScratchCat may use that information to notify you,
our customer, of updates to our Web site or of products
and legitimate business purposes and internal or external
services that may be of interest to you.
Personal Data
Our policy recognizes two kinds of personal data: Personally-Identifiable
Information (e.g. name, address, phone number, e-mail addresses,
date of birth, personal interests and hobbies, billing and shipping
information, survey data, purchase histories and user activity
on a Web site or online service); and, Sensitive Data
(e.g. credit card numbers, social security numbers for online
job applicants, etc.), which is subject to additional safeguards.
Appropriate safeguards will be implemented to ensure the security,
integrity and privacy of Personally-Identifiable Information about
our customers and prospects.
We will not share your email address with parties
outside of ScratchCat, and we offer you the option
not to have your other Personally-Identifiable Information
shared with parties outside of ScratchCat. We will
not disclose information concerning individuals' usage
of our sites to third parties except in aggregate
form.
We will not rent or otherwise make Sensitive Data
available for external distribution outside of ScratchCat
although sometimes, we may use a third party outside
of ScratchCat to help us with things like mailings,
credit card verification/approval, maintenance of
our SchoolPurrks database or other events. Therefore,
third parties working on ScratchCat's behalf may have
access to personal data. Of course, if that happens,
we will follow commercially appropriate procedures
to help ensure that the information is used only for
authorized purposes and by authorized persons in a
manner consistent with the choices you have made under
this policy, and that the security, integrity and
privacy of the information is maintained, to the extent
that we can.
There are a few exceptions. For example, information
may be transferred in conjunction with the sale or
similar transfer of ScratchCat or one or more of our
products or product lines; in response to legal process;
in response to a court order or a subpoena; or, in
response to a law enforcement agency's request.
Children's Online Privacy Act of 1998
We encourage parents and guardians to spend time
online with their children (children 12 and under)
and to always be aware of their online activities.
No personally identifying information should be submitted
to or posted on this Web site by children without
the consent of their parent or guardian. We encourage
parents to monitor their children's online use, and
to help us protect their privacy by instructing them
never to provide personally identifying information
on this Web site or any other Web site without permission.
We are also prohibited by law from conditioning a
child's participation in any activity on this Web
site on the child disclosing more personally identifying
information than is reasonably necessary to participate
in such activity.
CHILDREN: Please do not give your full name, email address, home
address, telephone number or any other personal information that
would enable someone to contact you either online or offline,
without first asking your parent or guardian for permission. We
do not collect personally identifying information from children
on this Web site either directly or passively except when a child
may voluntarily submit such information through a Contact
Us link, information that we do not solicit from children
12 and under. If a child e-mails us via a Contact Us
link, any personally identifying information submitted will only
be used to respond on a one-time basis to such child and will
thereafter be deleted from our records.
